Pepperstone or XM, which is better?
Verdict
- Pepperstone is our pick over XM for UAE-based traders: it publishes average spreads (EUR/USD 0.1 pips on Razor plus $3.50 per side), adds cTrader and TradingView to MetaTrader, and lists its UAE deposit routes, including AED accounts.
- XM's entry point is lower, a $5 minimum against Pepperstone's $10, and it has a swap-free account, which Pepperstone does not provide to UAE residents, though XM doesn't publish the terms.
- Both groups have a DFSA-regulated company in the DIFC: Pepperstone (F004356) and XM's Trading Point MENA Limited (F003484).
- XM's Belize company advertises leverage up to 1000:1; Pepperstone's UAE retail cap is 1:200 on major currency pairs.
XM and Pepperstone are both large MetaTrader brokers with a foothold in Dubai's financial centre. The difference is what each puts in writing before you sign up: costs, funding routes and swap-free terms. On that test, Pepperstone is ahead.
Why Pepperstone comes out ahead
With Pepperstone you can work out a trade's cost before opening an account: Razor at 0.1 pips average on EUR/USD plus $7 round-trip commission comes to about $8 a lot on MT5, or $7 on cTrader, and the commission-free Standard account averages 1.1 pips. XM advertises 'spreads as low as zero' on its Zero account but publishes no EUR/USD figure on its public pages, and its deposit and withdrawal options sit behind the members' login. Pepperstone also gives you five platforms against XM's three (MT4, MT5 and the XM app).

Leverage: 1:200 versus 1000:1
XM Global, the Belize-regulated company, advertises flexible leverage up to 1000:1, while XM's CySEC company caps it at 30:1. Pepperstone's UAE site allows retail clients up to 1:200 on major FX and gold, and 1:20 on shares and on BTC/USD and ETH/USD. A higher ceiling only means a smaller margin deposit: at 1000:1, a 0.1% move against you equals the whole margin on that position. For most traders 1:200 is already more than they should use, and Pepperstone's retail clients are entitled to negative balance protection.
Getting money in and out
XM says its back-office system processes withdrawal requests instantly, with bank wires and cards usually taking 2–5 business days to arrive, but it doesn't list its payment methods publicly. Pepperstone's UAE pages list Mashreq Bank and Barclays transfers (up to 2 business days each way), card withdrawals within 1 business day, and Apple Pay or Google Pay withdrawals as immediate. Withdrawals go back to the method you paid in with.
Where Capital.com and XS fit
If XM's appeal was its swap-free account, our second and third choices both offer one to UAE residents with clearer terms. Capital.com holds a UAE CMA licence (20200000176), offers AED accounts and needs a $20 minimum. XS turns swap-free status on automatically for UAE residents on MetaTrader and publishes its Elite account at 0.1 pips average on EUR/USD with a $6 round-turn commission and a $500 minimum.
