Pepperstone or Exness, which is better in the UAE?
Verdict
- Pepperstone is the better choice for most UAE residents: it publishes average spreads, lets you hold an AED account funded through Mashreq Bank or Barclays, and its group has a DFSA-regulated company in the DIFC, while Exness names no UAE entity.
- Exness serves retail clients through companies in Seychelles, Curaçao, the British Virgin Islands, Belize, Kenya and South Africa; its CySEC and FCA companies do not serve retail clients.
- Exness advertises swap-free trading on popular assets, which Pepperstone does not offer UAE residents, but it publishes no admin-fee schedule.
- If swap-free trading under a UAE licence matters most, Capital.com is our second choice, with XS third.
Both brokers run MetaTrader and advertise tight pricing, so for a UAE resident the choice comes down to who regulates your account, whether you can bank in dirhams, and whether costs are written down. Pepperstone gives the clearer answer on all three.
Our verdict: Pepperstone
Pepperstone's Razor account averages 0.1 pips on EUR/USD with $3.50 commission per side, its Standard account 1.1 pips with none, and the minimum deposit is $10. UAE clients can choose AED as their base currency, use local transfers from Mashreq Bank or Barclays (no minimum, up to 2 business days), and trade on MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradingView or Pepperstone's app. Exness publishes none of the equivalent figures as fixed numbers. The one thing Exness offers UAE residents that Pepperstone lacks is swap-free trading.

Why the regulator matters more than the spread
If something goes wrong, whether a disputed fill, a delayed withdrawal or a broker in trouble, the rules that protect you are those of the company named on your client agreement. With Pepperstone in the UAE, that is the Bahamas-licensed Pepperstone Markets Limited, inside a group that also has a Dubai office at Emaar Square and a DIFC company supervised by the DFSA. Pepperstone's UAE risk disclosure says retail clients are entitled to negative balance protection; it names no compensation scheme. Exness's regulation page lists no UAE or GCC company, and the entities that take retail clients sit in offshore and African jurisdictions. Check which one your Exness account would be opened under before you deposit.
Comparing costs when only one side publishes numbers
Pepperstone's averages convert straight into dollars: one lot of EUR/USD costs about $8 on Razor through MT5, $7 through cTrader and $11 on Standard. Exness makes a relative claim instead: that it cut forex costs by up to 50% against the average of brokers it compared in the week of 5–10 April 2026. That can't be turned into a cost per trade, and it says nothing about the conditions you will get. The fair test is to watch both live spreads on the same pair at the same moment before committing.
When to choose something else
- You need swap-free: Exness advertises it but publishes no fee schedule. Capital.com lists the UAE among its swap-free countries and holds a UAE CMA licence (20200000176).
- You want MetaTrader with automatic swap-free status: XS applies it to UAE residents on MT4 and MT5, and its Elite account is published at 0.1 pips average on EUR/USD plus a $6 round-turn commission, from a $500 minimum.
- You want cTrader or TradingView: stay with Pepperstone.
