Pepperstone or eToro, which is better for CFD trading?

Updated: 2026-10-21How we test

Verdict

  • For CFD trading we pick Pepperstone over eToro: Pepperstone's Razor account averages 0.1 pips on EUR/USD plus $3.50 per side (about $8 a lot), while eToro's EUR/USD spread starts from 1 pip ($10 a lot at best), and Pepperstone offers MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView.
  • eToro holds the stronger UAE licence: eToro (ME) Limited is authorised by the FSRA in Abu Dhabi Global Market (permission 220073), while Pepperstone's UAE CFDs are issued by its Bahamas company.
  • eToro has an Islamic account from a $1,000 deposit; Pepperstone does not offer a swap-free account to UAE residents.
  • Pepperstone offers AED accounts; eToro's local-currency accounts are GBP, EUR, AUD and DKK.

eToro and Pepperstone are built for different traders. eToro is a single in-house platform; Pepperstone is a pricing-and-platforms broker for people who trade CFDs often. Judged purely as a CFD broker, cost decides it.

Pepperstone is cheaper per CFD trade

Pepperstone publishes averages; eToro publishes minimums. That matters: eToro's EUR/USD is 'from 1 pip', so a lot costs at least $10, whereas Pepperstone's average-based cost is about $8 on Razor through MT5, $7 through cTrader and $11 on the commission-free Standard account. Over ten round trips a day, Razor saves at least $20 against eToro's best case.

Licences: where eToro has the edge

eToro (ME) Limited is authorised by Abu Dhabi's FSRA in ADGM, so a UAE client can deal with a company supervised inside the country. Pepperstone's UAE retail CFDs are issued by Pepperstone Markets Limited under a Bahamas SCB licence; its Dubai LLC is licensed by the CMA for introduction and consultation, and its DIFC company is regulated by the DFSA. Pepperstone's UAE risk disclosure gives retail clients negative balance protection. If an onshore UAE regulator is your first requirement, eToro, or Capital.com with its UAE CMA licence (20200000176), scores better than Pepperstone on that point alone.

Platforms, tools and automation

eToro runs only its own web platform and mobile app. Pepperstone lets you choose MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradingView or its own platform, run expert advisors on MetaTrader or C# cBots through cTrader Automate, and add the Smart Trader Tools on MetaTrader. This comparison covers CFD trading only; if eToro's social features are why you use it, note that Pepperstone's UAE site has no copy-trading page.

Overnight costs, currencies and withdrawals

  • eToro's Islamic account: no interest, a 7-day grace period, then daily admin fees on CFDs held overnight, with a $1,000 minimum deposit. Pepperstone has no swap-free option for UAE residents.
  • Account currency: Pepperstone offers AED; eToro's published local-currency accounts are GBP, EUR, AUD and DKK.
  • Withdrawals: eToro lists up to 10 business days for cards and bank transfers (instant to eToro Money); Pepperstone lists cards within 1 business day and UAE bank transfers within 2.
