Which brokers let you trade the Hang Seng?

Updated: 2026-10-21How we test

Verdict

  • Pepperstone is our pick for trading the Hang Seng from the UAE: its HK50 CFD has a published 5-point spread on both Razor and Standard, with no index commission.
  • Because the HK50 spread is the same on both accounts, choose Razor only if you want TradingView or MT4, which UAE clients get only on Razor.
  • Pepperstone also lists 46 Hong Kong-listed share CFDs; its international accounts page shows a 0.2% commission per side on them.
  • We have no verified Hang Seng product for Capital.com or XS, so confirm their symbol lists before you rely on either.

Yes, you can trade Hong Kong's main index from Dubai, as a CFD. Pepperstone offers it under the symbol HK50 and publishes the spread, so it is the broker we recommend for this. Below: what HK50 costs, why the account choice works differently here, how Hong Kong hours fit a UAE day, and which broker details to confirm first.

HK50 at Pepperstone: same spread on both accounts

Pepperstone's index-fees page (August 2026 data) lists HK50 at a 5-point minimum and 5-point average on both Razor and Standard. Index CFDs carry no commission, so on this index the two accounts cost the same to trade. That turns the account decision into a platform decision: Standard gives you the Pepperstone app and web platform, MT5 and cTrader; Razor adds MT4 and TradingView. Retail leverage for UAE clients on major indices goes up to 1:200 on Pepperstone's table, and the minimum deposit is $10.

Index or single Hong Kong stocks?

Pepperstone's own pages disagree on the Hong Kong share commission: its UK fee page shows 0.15%, while the international and Australian pages show 0.20%. We use the higher figure, as UAE clients' CFDs are issued by the same Bahamas company that runs the international site.

A worked HK50 example in Hong Kong dollars

HK50 is priced in Hong Kong dollars. At HK$50 a point, the 5-point spread costs HK$250 a round trip on either account. Your account will be in AED, USD, EUR, GBP or AUD, since HKD is not among the base currencies Pepperstone lists for UAE clients, so each profit or loss is converted. On single shares, a HK$100,000 position in a Hong Kong share CFD at 0.2% per side pays HK$200 to open and HK$200 to close, before any overnight financing.

Fitting Hong Kong hours into a UAE day

Hong Kong is four hours ahead of the UAE, so the Hong Kong cash session falls in the UAE morning and finishes around midday. That suits traders who work on the index before the European open, but news from China often lands outside that window. Check the HK50 trading hours shown in your platform, and remember that a gap at the open can carry a stop past its level: Pepperstone publishes no guaranteed stop-loss.

Capital.com and XS

  • Capital.com: Dubai company licensed by the UAE CMA (20200000176); index leverage up to 300:1; web, app, MT4, MT5 and TradingView. A Hang Seng contract is not in our verified data.
  • XS: accepts UAE residents and applies swap-free automatically on MT4 and MT5. Verified pricing covers EUR/USD only (from 0.1 pips, Elite account, $6 round turn, $500 minimum).

They cost the same on HK50 at a published 5-point spread. Pick Razor if you want TradingView or MT4.

Can I open an HKD account from the UAE?

Pepperstone's UAE funding page lists GBP, USD, EUR, AUD and AED as base currencies, not HKD.

CFDs on indices and shares are leveraged products with a high risk of rapid losses, and currency conversion adds another source of risk. This page is information, not investment advice; check current terms with the broker.
