Which brokers offer S&P 500 CFDs with the lowest spreads?
Verdict
- Pepperstone is the lowest-cost S&P 500 CFD we can verify for UAE traders: US500 averages 0.4 points on the Razor account and 0.5 on Standard, with no commission on index CFDs.
- Those are published averages, not best-case minimums. Many brokers advertise a 'from' spread instead, which tells you less about what you will actually pay.
- Capital.com and XS publish no S&P 500 spread in our verified data, so a like-for-like comparison is only possible against a quote you take from their platforms yourself.
- UAE retail accounts at Pepperstone can use up to 1:200 on major indices; positions are issued by its Bahamas-regulated company.
The S&P 500 is one of the most competitively priced CFDs, so small differences in the spread decide the cost. On published figures, Pepperstone's US500 Razor quote is the tightest we can verify. Below is the full picture: the numbers, why the 'from' figures in adverts mislead, and what a busy month of trading costs.
Pepperstone's US500 quote: 0.4 points on average
Pepperstone's index-fees page (August 2026 data) lists US500 at a 0.4-point minimum and 0.4-point average on Razor, and 0.5/0.5 on Standard. Index CFDs carry no commission, so the quote is the whole entry-and-exit cost before overnight financing. Its UK fee page shows the same 0.4 minimum on Razor and a 0.6 minimum on Standard, so expect small differences between Pepperstone's own pages and check the live quote in your platform. For UAE residents, the Razor account also unlocks TradingView and MT4 on top of MT5, cTrader and Pepperstone's app.

Minimum spread or average spread: which number to compare
A minimum ('from') spread is the tightest quote the broker recorded, often in the busiest minutes of the US session. An average spread folds in quieter hours and the open, so it is closer to what a typical trader pays. When a page says 'from 0.3', compare it only with another broker's minimum, never with Pepperstone's average. For the S&P 500, Pepperstone publishes both, and on Razor they are identical at 0.4 points, which suggests a steady quote. Spreads can still widen around the US open, data releases and outside the main session.
US500 cost by contract and account
The perpetual contract appears on Pepperstone's UAE retail margin table; its commission is published on the Australian site, so confirm the rate on a UAE account.
| Contract | Minimum | Average | Commission |
|---|---|---|---|
| US500 cash CFD, Razor | 0.4 | 0.4 | None |
| US500 cash CFD, Standard | 0.5 | 0.5 | None |
| US500-F forward | 1 | Not published in our data | None |
| US500-PERP perpetual | Not in our data | Not in our data | 0.015% per side on Pepperstone's Australian fee page |
What a tenth of a point is worth over a month
Say you trade US500 at $10 a point and make 100 round trips a month. At 0.4 points, the spread costs $4 a trade, or $400 a month on Razor. At 0.5 on Standard it is $5 a trade, or $500. The Standard account costs $100 more per month for the same trading, with no other difference in index commission. For a swing trader making ten trades a month, the gap shrinks to $10, and overnight financing matters far more than the spread.
Where Capital.com and XS stand
- Capital.com publishes no S&P 500 spread in our data. Its Dubai company is licensed by the UAE CMA (20200000176) and lists index leverage of up to 300:1. It also offers UAE residents a swap-free account, which Pepperstone does not.
- XS: the only spread we can verify is EUR/USD from 0.1 pips on the Elite account ($6 round-turn commission, $500 minimum). Check its S&P 500 symbol and live spread in MT5 before comparing.
- To compare fairly, open a demo or live quote screen at the same minute of the US session and read the bid-ask difference on each platform.

Is US500 the same as the S&P 500?
US500 is the symbol Pepperstone uses for its CFD on the S&P 500 index. Other brokers use names such as SPX500 or US 500, so search for all of them in a platform.
Why is Razor cheaper than Standard on the S&P 500?
On forex, Razor charges a commission per lot, but Pepperstone charges no commission on index CFDs. On US500 you simply get Razor's tighter 0.4-point average.
How much leverage can I use on the S&P 500 in the UAE?
Pepperstone's UAE leverage table allows up to 1:200 on major indices for retail clients and up to 1:500 for professional clients.
Trading CFDs on margin carries a high risk of fast losses, and a tight spread does not reduce that risk. Spreads change with market conditions. Nothing here is investment advice; confirm every broker's current pricing before you trade.
