Which CFD brokers are best for news and event trading?

Updated: 2026-10-21How we test

Verdict

  • For trading news and scheduled events, Pepperstone is our pick: Razor pricing keeps the spread close to raw, and Pepperstone reports execution from 50 milliseconds with a 99.32% fill rate and no dealer intervention (Q1 2026 trades).
  • Its weakness for event traders: Pepperstone does not offer guaranteed stop-loss orders, and its terms say a stop cannot be guaranteed to fill at your level.
  • If you want a guaranteed stop, IG (free to place, premium only if triggered) and Plus500 (Guaranteed Stop Order, paid through a wider spread) publish one on their UK sites; confirm availability for UAE residents.
  • Size for the gap, not the stop: at Pepperstone's UAE retail cap of 1:200, a 0.5% jump against you equals the whole margin on that trade.

Event trading is about what happens in the seconds around a release: how quickly an order fills, how far the price can jump past your stop, and what the spread does. Here is how Pepperstone handles that, and what to use if you need a hard guarantee on your exit.

Pepperstone for event trading: fast fills, near-raw pricing

On a Razor account, Pepperstone publishes a 0.1-pip average on EUR/USD plus commission ($3.50 per side on MT5 and TradingView, $3.00 on cTrader), so you see the market spread rather than a marked-up one. Its execution statistics, based on trades from 1 January to 31 March 2026, claim fills from 50 milliseconds, a 99.32% fill rate and no dealer intervention. Pepperstone also offers its traders a free Bloomberg.com Premium Digital subscription (terms apply), useful for following the story behind a number. UAE residents can hold the account in AED.

What happens to your order around a release

When a major figure lands, liquidity thins and prices can jump several levels at once. A stop-loss at most brokers is only an instruction to close at the next available price once your level trades, so in a gap it can fill well beyond where you set it. Pepperstone's published terms say exactly this: stop-loss orders cannot be guaranteed to execute at the specified level. Retail clients are still covered by negative balance protection, according to Pepperstone's UAE risk disclosure, so a gap cannot push the account below zero.

Guaranteed stops: who publishes them

These guarantees are documented on UK pages. IG serves UAE clients through a DIFC company (DFSA F001780) and Plus500 through a CMA-licensed Dubai company, but whether the guarantee applies to UAE accounts is not in our sources.

Tools for trading the calendar at Pepperstone

  • Smart Trader Tools for MT4 and MT5, including Trade Terminal, Mini Terminal, Correlation Matrix and Smart Lines, for placing and managing orders quickly.
  • cTrader Automate, for C# cBots that can enter on a rule rather than a hand on the mouse.
  • 24-hour US shares: 100+ US share CFDs trade 24/5 with a “-24” suffix, which matters for earnings released outside US hours.
  • Leverage on the UAE site: up to 1:200 on major FX, gold and major indices for retail clients, 1:20 on energies.

Rules that keep an event trade survivable

  1. Decide before the release whether you trade the first move or wait for the dust to settle; most losses come from improvising.
  2. Cut position size so that a jump of twice your stop distance is still a loss you accept.
  3. Avoid placing pending orders right next to the current price just before the number.
  4. Check the spread on your platform in the minute before the release, and stand aside if it is far above the average.

Broker-published terms.

Does Pepperstone allow trading during news?

Our sources show no published restriction on trading around news. Its terms do say stop-loss orders can't be guaranteed, so expect slippage in fast markets.

Which Pepperstone account is better for news trading?

Razor, for most event traders: the spread stays close to raw and the commission is fixed per lot, so you can see the true spread widening on screen.

Does Capital.com or XS offer guaranteed stops in the UAE?

Our verified data does not cover it for either firm. Ask them in writing before relying on one.

Risk warning: CFDs are complex, leveraged products, and you can lose money quickly. Only trade if you understand how they work and can afford to lose what you put in. Nothing here is investment advice, and the terms quoted are the brokers' own and can change without notice.
