Which CFD brokers are best for beginners in the UAE?

Updated: 2026-10-21How we test

Verdict

  • For a first CFD account in the UAE we recommend Pepperstone, opened as a Standard account: no commission to calculate, a published 1.1-pip EUR/USD average, a $10 minimum and an AED base currency.
  • Capital.com is the better beginner choice if you need a swap-free account or want a company licensed onshore by the UAE CMA (20200000176).
  • XS lists a $0 minimum, but its lowest published price sits on the Elite account ($500 minimum), which is not where most beginners start.
  • Whichever you pick, the biggest beginner risk is leverage: 1:200 on major pairs is the ceiling on Pepperstone's UAE site, not a target.

A beginner needs three things from a CFD provider: a small, low-risk way in, costs simple enough to work out before each trade, and protection when a trade goes badly. Pepperstone covers all three for UAE residents. Here is how it compares and how to use the first month.

Start with Pepperstone, on the Standard account

Standard pricing puts the whole cost into the spread, so the number on screen is the number you pay to open and close (bar overnight swap). That is easier to learn on than Razor's spread-plus-commission model, which only pays off once you trade larger or more often. You can fund in dirhams by Mashreq Bank or Barclays transfer, card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and practise on Pepperstone's own web platform and app before moving to MT5 or cTrader. Retail clients are entitled to negative balance protection, according to Pepperstone's UAE risk disclosure.

A first-month plan on a small balance

  1. Deposit a small amount you can lose without it hurting, then request a small withdrawal to see the route work. Card withdrawals take up to 1 business day at Pepperstone; Mashreq and Barclays transfers up to 2.
  2. Trade the smallest position size your platform allows on one liquid market, such as EUR/USD.
  3. Before each trade, write down the exit if you are wrong, and the cost: on Standard, 1.1 pips on a full lot is about $11, so a tenth of that size costs about $1.10.
  4. Close positions before the daily rollover for the first weeks, so swap does not muddy your results.
  5. Review your trades weekly. Move to Razor only once you trade often enough for lower spreads to beat the commission.

Mistakes CFDs punish fastest

  • Using full leverage. At 1:200, a 0.5% move against you equals your entire margin on that trade.
  • Holding through major data releases: stop-loss orders can slip, and Pepperstone's terms say a stop level cannot be guaranteed.
  • Ignoring overnight costs. Pepperstone does not offer its swap-free account to UAE residents, so held positions accrue swap.
  • Chasing losses with bigger size. Set a daily loss limit before you start.

When Capital.com or XS suits a beginner better

If you hold positions overnight and need them swap-free for religious reasons, Pepperstone is not an option in the UAE: Capital.com names the UAE among its swap-free countries, and XS applies swap-free status automatically for UAE residents on MT4 and MT5. Capital.com also suits beginners who prefer an onshore CMA-licensed company and want to deposit through LEAN open banking in AED.

Each firm's own published terms.

Should a beginner choose Standard or Razor?

Standard, at first. The cost is all in the spread, so it is easier to track. Razor is cheaper per lot (0.1 pips average plus commission) once you trade regularly.

Can I lose more than I deposit?

As a retail client at Pepperstone in the UAE, you are entitled to negative balance protection under its risk disclosure. You can still lose your whole deposit.

Is $10 enough to learn on?

It is enough to test deposits, withdrawals and the platform. To trade with sensible position sizes and a stop-loss, most beginners need more, but start with an amount you can afford to lose.

Risk warning: CFDs are complex, leveraged products, and you can lose money quickly. Only trade if you understand how they work and can afford to lose what you put in. Nothing here is investment advice, and the terms quoted are the brokers' own and can change without notice.
