Which trading app is best for crypto CFDs?
Verdict
- Pepperstone is our pick for crypto CFDs on a phone: its Bahamas retail margin table lists 44 coins against the US dollar, plus Bitcoin and Ether in AUD, EUR and GBP, and crypto CFDs carry no commission.
- Published Razor spreads average 15.15 on BTC/USD and 2.01 on ETH/USD (Standard: 20.15 and 2.51), from Pepperstone's crypto spread table.
- Retail leverage on BTC/USD is capped at 1:20 for clients of the Bahamas entity, so a $1,000 Bitcoin position needs $50 of margin.
- Singapore residents are served by that Bahamas entity (SCB, SIA-F217); Pepperstone holds no MAS licence.
A crypto CFD lets you trade the price of a coin, long or short, without a wallet or an exchange account. If that is what you want, Pepperstone's app has the widest coin list and the clearest pricing in our data. Here is what it lists, what it costs, and where crypto CFDs are the wrong tool.
Pepperstone's app for crypto CFDs: 44 coins against the dollar
The coin list on Pepperstone's Bahamas retail margin table (effective 19 September 2026) runs well past Bitcoin and Ether: Solana, XRP, Cardano, Dogecoin, Chainlink, Avalanche, Polkadot, Litecoin, Toncoin, Sui, Hyperliquid and Render are all there, 44 USD pairs in all. Pricing is in the spread with no commission, the account also runs on MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView (Razor) if you later want desktop charting, and you can even fund the account in crypto (minimum $18 on Pepperstone's deposit table). What you get is price exposure, not coins: you cannot withdraw Bitcoin from a CFD position.

| Coin | Razor minimum | Razor average | Standard minimum | Standard average |

| ETH/USD | 2 | 2.01 | 2.5 | 2.51 |
1:20 on Bitcoin: margin in practice
Clients of Pepperstone's Bahamas entity get up to 1:20 on BTC/USD, which means a 5% margin. Open a $1,000 Bitcoin position and $50 is set aside; a 5% fall in Bitcoin, a move it can make in a single day, takes all of it. Leverage for other coins is set coin by coin, so check each one's line in the margin table before you size a trade. Holding overnight adds a financing charge each day, and over weeks that can outweigh the spread, so crypto CFDs suit short and medium holds more than long-term investing.
When a crypto CFD is the wrong tool
- You want to own coins, stake them or move them to a wallet: use an exchange, not a CFD.
- You plan to hold for months: daily financing builds up, while owning the coin has no such charge.
- You want a MAS-licensed provider: Pepperstone serves Singapore residents from the Bahamas and holds no MAS licence.
- You trade only Bitcoin in small size: the 15.15 average spread on a small position is a larger share of the trade than on forex majors.
Where XS fits
XS accepts Singapore residents and offers MetaTrader and its own app, and its swap-free terms mention crypto pairs, but we hold no verified XS crypto spreads or coin list. If you are choosing between the two on crypto, ask XS for its BTC/USD average spread and margin rate and set them against the table above.
