How do I start forex trading in Dubai?

Updated: 2026-10-21How we test

Verdict

  • To start forex trading in Dubai, learn how pips, lots and margin work, open a small account with a regulated broker — our pick is Pepperstone, from $10 with an AED base currency — and size every trade so a loss costs about 1% of your balance.
  • On EUR/USD, one standard lot is worth about $10 a pip, so 0.05 lots with a 20-pip stop risks about $10, or 1% of a $1,000 account.
  • Pepperstone's UAE retail leverage reaches 1:200 on major pairs; the limit you actually use is set by your position size, not by the account.
  • Capital.com is the alternative if you need a swap-free account, which Pepperstone does not offer to UAE residents.

Starting forex trading is mostly about controlling the size of your mistakes while you learn. Here is a practical sequence for a Dubai resident, from the three numbers you need to understand to the first funded trade.

Open a small account with Pepperstone

We suggest beginning with Pepperstone because the first account can be very small and inexpensive to run. The minimum is $10, you can hold the balance in AED, and Pepperstone's Dubai office is at Emaar Square in Downtown Dubai, with a local support number (+971 4 497 4199). Start on the Standard account, where the published EUR/USD average of 1.1 pips is the whole cost; move to Razor once you trade often enough for the commission model to save money.

The three numbers to learn first

  • Pip: the fourth decimal on most pairs. On EUR/USD a standard lot (100,000 units) moves about $10 per pip.
  • Lot size: 1 lot, 0.1 (mini) or 0.01 (micro). Halving the lot halves both the risk and the reward.
  • Margin: the deposit a position ties up. At 1:200, a $10,000 position needs $50 of margin, but the full $10,000 moves with the market.

A worked first trade

Say you fund $1,000 and decide to risk 1% per trade, which is $10. You plan a 20-pip stop-loss on EUR/USD. Divide the risk by the stop: $10 ÷ 20 pips = $0.50 a pip, which is 0.05 lots. If the stop is hit you lose about $10 plus a spread of roughly $0.55 on the Standard account. If you had opened 1 lot instead, the same 20 pips would cost $200, a fifth of the account.

  1. Write down entry, stop and target before you click.
  2. Set the stop in the platform, not in your head.
  3. Keep a log of each trade and its cost for the first month.

Dubai-specific points to check

  • Who holds your account: at Pepperstone, Pepperstone Markets Limited (Bahamas, SCB SIA-F217); the Dubai LLC is licensed by the UAE CMA for introduction and consultation only.
  • Funding in dirhams: Mashreq Bank and Barclays transfers, cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are listed.
  • Swap-free needs: if you require a swap-free account, Capital.com and XS offer one to UAE residents; Pepperstone does not.
  • Protection: retail clients are entitled to negative balance protection, and no compensation scheme is named for UAE clients.

How much money do I need to start forex trading in Dubai?

Pepperstone's minimum is $10. A balance of a few hundred dollars lets you trade 0.01 lots with sensible stops, but only fund what you can afford to lose.

Should I start on Standard or Razor?

Standard, while you learn: the 1.1-pip published average spread is the only cost on EUR/USD. Razor's 0.1-pip average plus commission saves money once you trade regularly.

Does Pepperstone have an office in Dubai?

Yes. Pepperstone Financial Services LLC is at Emaar Square 3, Level 3, Unit 301-02, Downtown Dubai.
