Can I trade gold and oil CFDs with Pepperstone in the UAE?
Verdict
- Yes. UAE residents can trade gold and oil CFDs with Pepperstone, our top pick, on both Standard and Razor accounts.
- Gold (XAU/USD) has a published average spread of 0.12 on Razor plus commission, or 0.19 on Standard with none; retail leverage on gold is up to 1:200.
- Oil falls under energies, with retail leverage of up to 1:20; GOLD-PERP, WTOIL-PERP and BRENTOIL-PERP perpetual CFDs appear on Pepperstone's UAE retail margin table.
- Overnight positions pay swap, and Pepperstone's swap-free account is not available to UAE residents; Capital.com offers swap-free and up to 500:1 on gold and crude through its Dubai company.
Gold and oil are among the most traded CFDs in the Gulf, and Pepperstone covers both. The details that matter are the gold spread, the very different leverage on gold and oil, and what holding either overnight costs you.
Gold and oil at Pepperstone: yes, on both accounts
Pepperstone's commodity range runs to 40 instruments, including spot gold and crude oil, and UAE residents can trade them on the Pepperstone app, MT5 and cTrader with either account, or on MT4 and TradingView with Razor. Gold has published average spreads, which is rare, and the account can be held in AED and funded through Mashreq Bank or Barclays.

Why oil leverage is ten times lower
On the UAE site, energies are capped at 1:20 against 1:200 for gold, so the same margin buys a much smaller oil position. Worked example: $1,000 of margin supports up to $200,000 of gold exposure but only $20,000 of oil. Oil can move sharply on supply news and inventory data, so the lower cap is a useful brake. Size oil trades from the stop distance, not from the margin available.
Holding positions overnight
Spot gold and oil CFDs pay or earn swap when held past the daily rollover, and because Pepperstone's swap-free account isn't open to UAE residents, there is no way to switch that off. If you need swap-free commodity trading, Capital.com lists the UAE among its swap-free countries, and its Dubai company publishes retail leverage of 200:1 on commodities, rising to 500:1 on gold and crude.
