Which brokers don't charge deposit or withdrawal fees?
Verdict
- Pepperstone is our pick: its international site lists every deposit method as free and charges no withdrawal fee, with one exception, a $20 fee on international bank-wire withdrawals.
- XS says it charges no internal fees for deposits or withdrawals, but reserves the right to apply up to 3% on withdrawals where there has been no trading activity or it identifies abuse.
- Capital.com's deposit and withdrawal fees are not in our data; its help centre says withdrawals are usually handled within 24 hours.
- Your own bank, card issuer or an intermediary bank may still charge, whatever the broker's policy.
'No fees' from a broker means no fees from the broker. Banks in between can still take a cut, and currency conversion is a cost too. With that caveat, Pepperstone has the cleanest published fee policy among the brokers we would recommend in Hong Kong.
Pepperstone's payment fees
On Pepperstone's international site, which serves Hong Kong through Pepperstone Markets Limited (SCB Bahamas, SIA-F217), all deposit methods are listed as free: cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Neteller and Skrill from $10, crypto from $18, and bank transfer with no minimum. Withdrawals are listed as free too, but the costs page adds a $20 charge for international bank-wire withdrawals, so use another method where you can. Withdrawals go back to the source you paid from. Holding the account in HKD means HKD deposits are not converted into another account currency on the way in.

Fees the broker does not control
- Receiving-bank charges on incoming international transfers.
- Intermediary-bank deductions when a wire passes through correspondent banks.
- Card issuer charges for foreign-currency transactions.
- Currency conversion when your deposit currency differs from your account currency.
Keeping payments free in practice
- Pick an account currency that matches the money you deposit; HKD is available at Pepperstone.
- Deposit by card, e-wallet or Apple Pay if you want fee-free withdrawals back, since funds return to the source.
- Avoid international bank-wire withdrawals at Pepperstone unless the amount justifies $20.
- At XS, trade before you withdraw; its 3% fee is reserved for accounts with no trading activity.
- Keep deposit receipts; they speed up withdrawal checks.
