Can I connect an AI trading bot to my broker account?
Verdict
- Yes, if your broker supports automation, and Pepperstone, our pick, accepts bots three ways: as an expert advisor on MT4 or MT5, as a cBot on cTrader, or through an API connection.
- The route depends on how the bot is built: MetaTrader bots run as expert advisors, cTrader bots are written in C#, and models in Python or other languages need API access.
- For Singapore residents the account sits with Pepperstone Markets Limited (SCB, The Bahamas, SIA-F217); Pepperstone holds no MAS licence.
- Use the platform's own bot mechanism; never hand a bot seller your account password or let it move money.
Most AI trading bots are just software that sends orders. The broker doesn't need to know what model is behind it; it needs a supported way for the orders to arrive. Here is how that works on a Pepperstone account.
How Pepperstone accounts accept bots
On Pepperstone's international site both account types run MT4, MT5 and cTrader, and Razor adds TradingView. That gives a bot three ways in:
| Bot built as | Runs on | Standard account | Razor account |
|---|---|---|---|
| Expert advisor (MQL) | MT4 or MT5 | Yes | Yes |
| cBot (C#) | cTrader Automate | Yes | Yes |
| External model (Python etc.) | API trading | Check with Pepperstone | Check with Pepperstone |

Connecting a MetaTrader or cTrader bot
- Open the account and choose the platform your bot is written for; you cannot run an MT5 expert advisor on cTrader or the reverse.
- Log in to the platform with the credentials Pepperstone gives you.
- Install the bot file in the platform's experts or cBots folder and attach it to a chart.
- Set the lot size and maximum positions inside the bot before enabling live trading.
- Start on the smallest size and compare the first week's live fills with the bot's backtest.
Keeping a bot running around the clock
A bot stops when the computer running it sleeps. Pepperstone offers a free VPS to eligible and Pro clients; otherwise you rent one. Platform choice also changes the bill. Razor commission is US$3.00 per side on cTrader for FX against US$3.50 on MT5, so a bot trading 100 round-turn lots a month saves US$100 by running on cTrader.
Other brokers that take bots
XS offers MT4 and MT5, though it does not publish an expert-advisor policy in our data. Among MAS-licensed firms, OANDA and Phillip Securities list MT5, and IG lists MT4, MT5 and APIs on its group site. Pepperstone remains our first choice because it covers all three bot types on one account, with a published raw-spread price.

Does Pepperstone allow expert advisors?
Yes. Pepperstone lists algorithmic trading with expert advisors on MT4 and MT5, plus cBots on cTrader.
Can I connect a TradingView strategy?
You can trade from TradingView charts on a Razor account. Pepperstone's published automation routes are EAs, cBots and API trading, so check with support before relying on TradingView for fully automatic orders.
Will my bot pay more than a manual trader?
Pepperstone's fee pages list no separate charge for automated trading; a bot pays the same spread and commission as you would.
A bot places leveraged CFD trades with your money and can lose it quickly, including through errors in the code. This page is not investment advice; test with small sizes and check the broker's current terms.
