Which brokers offer 24 hour trading on US shares?
Verdict
- Pepperstone offers 24-hour trading on selected US shares: more than 100 US share CFDs trade 24 hours a day, five days a week, under a '-24' suffix such as AAPL.US-24.
- UK retail clients trade them through Pepperstone Limited (FCA 684312) at the 1:5 share leverage cap, paying $0.02 per share per side in commission.
- Weekend (24/7) trading on single US stocks is available only through Pepperstone's perpetual CFDs, which are for Professional clients in the UK.
- No other firm in our fact pack publishes a comparable 24-hour US share list.
US company news often lands outside the New York session, such as earnings after the close or announcements during European hours. Pepperstone is the firm in our research that lets UK retail clients act on it through separate 24-hour versions of popular US share CFDs. Here's how they work and what they cost.
How Pepperstone's 24-hour US shares work
Pepperstone lists more than 100 US share CFDs as 24/5 instruments, identified by a '-24' suffix: AAPL.US-24 trades around the clock from Monday to Friday, alongside the regular AAPL.US contract. Its UK markets page lists 24-hour US shares on selected stocks. You trade them on the same account as everything else, with the same US share commission of $0.02 per share per side, and retail clients keep negative balance protection.

Three ways to hold a US stock at Pepperstone
Pepperstone has published an explainer showing all three for SpaceX: SPCX.US, SPCX.US-24 and SPCX.US-PERP.
| Product | Example | When it trades | UK retail? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular share CFD | AAPL.US | During the exchange session | Yes |
| 24-hour share CFD | AAPL.US-24 | 24 hours, Monday to Friday | Yes |
| Perpetual CFD | NVDA, TSLA, GOOG, AMD and others | 24/7, with a daily funding rate | No, Professional only |
Why trade outside US hours, and what to watch
The main use is reacting to news before the next New York open rather than waiting for the gap. The trade-offs are real, though:
- Liquidity is thinner outside the main session, so spreads can be wider than during US hours.
- Prices can jump on a headline, and Pepperstone's stop-loss orders can't be guaranteed at a set level.
- A position held after 10 pm UK time pays an overnight fee, however briefly you meant to hold it.
What a 24-hour trade costs
Commission is the same as on regular US shares: $0.02 per share per side, so 300 shares cost $6 to open and $6 to close. Add the spread and any overnight fee. The result is in US dollars; with a USD base account (Pepperstone UK offers GBP, USD, EUR and CHF) you avoid converting every trade. At the 1:5 retail cap, $10,000 of exposure needs $2,000 of margin.
Other brokers
We looked for a published 24-hour US share offer at the other FCA-regulated firms in our fact pack, including Capital.com, IG, CMC Markets and Spreadex, and found none we could verify. If extended-hours trading matters, ask each firm which US stocks it quotes outside the exchange session and at what spread.
