Can I trade XRP CFDs in Australia?

Updated: 2026-10-21How we test

Verdict

  • Yes. XRP is listed against the US dollar on Pepperstone's ASIC tiered-margin table, so Australian residents can trade XRP CFDs with Pepperstone, our recommended provider.
  • XRP CFDs at Pepperstone carry 1:2 leverage for retail and professional clients alike, no commission, and an overnight financing charge on positions held past rollover.
  • Pepperstone publishes average spreads for BTCUSD and ETHUSD but not XRPUSD; compare the live spread with XRP's price, because on a low-priced coin a small spread can be a large percentage.
  • XRP is quoted in US dollars only, so profit and loss in an AUD account is converted from USD.

You can trade XRP as a CFD through Pepperstone's Australian entity, which is licensed by ASIC. What makes XRP different from bitcoin isn't the access, it's the arithmetic: a coin priced in dollars or cents means positions of thousands of units, and spread costs that are best judged as a percentage.

XRP at Pepperstone in Australia

Pepperstone Group Limited (AFSL 414530) includes XRP on the crypto list in its ASIC tiered-margin table (September 2026), next to bitcoin, ether and about 40 other coins. You can trade it long or short on MT5, cTrader or the Pepperstone platform on either account, and on MT4 or TradingView with Razor. Crypto CFDs carry no commission, retail clients get negative balance protection, and deposits start at $10.

Judge the spread as a percentage

Because Pepperstone doesn't publish an XRPUSD spread, read the bid and ask in the platform and work out the cost yourself. The formula is spread divided by price. Illustration with made-up numbers: if XRP is quoted 2.0000 / 2.0040, the spread is 0.004, which is 0.2% of the price, and a 5,000 XRP position (worth about $10,000) costs about $20 to open and close. By comparison, Pepperstone's published BTCUSD average of 15.15 is a fraction of a percent of bitcoin's price. Check this before you trade, especially in quiet hours.

Practical checks for XRP traders

  • Contract size: confirm how many XRP one lot equals in the symbol specification, so a one-lot order isn't far bigger or smaller than you meant.
  • Margin tiers: Pepperstone's tiered-margin table can increase the margin rate as the position grows.
  • News risk: crypto prices can react sharply to legal or regulatory headlines, and Pepperstone's stops are not guaranteed.
  • Financing: look up the long and short swap for XRPUSD before holding overnight.

Similar coins on the same list

Pepperstone's ASIC table also lists XLM, HBAR, ADA, DOGE and TRX, all against the US dollar at the same 1:2 leverage. If you want a second ASIC-regulated account, Capital.com (AFSL 513393) caps retail crypto leverage at 2:1 as well, though we haven't verified its XRP listing.
