Where can I trade gold 24 hours a day?

Updated: 2026-10-21How we test

Verdict

  • Pepperstone is where we would trade gold around the clock: its GOLD-PERP perpetual CFD trades 24/7, weekends included, and appears on the retail margin table of the Bahamas entity that serves Singapore.
  • A perpetual has no expiry; instead of a classic swap it carries a funding rate set weekly in advance and applied daily at 5 pm New York time.
  • Pepperstone's Australian costs page lists a 0.03% per-side commission on GOLD PERP; confirm the rate on your own account.
  • The account sits with Pepperstone Markets Limited, licensed in the Bahamas; Pepperstone has no MAS licence.

Most gold CFDs follow the weekday rhythm of the global gold market and close at the weekend. A perpetual CFD does not. If you want a gold price you can trade on a Sunday afternoon in Singapore, here is how Pepperstone's version works, what it costs, and what to watch.

Pepperstone's GOLD-PERP: gold every day of the week

We pick Pepperstone because it is the broker in our data with a published 24/7 gold contract. GOLD-PERP is one of five perpetual CFDs, alongside NAS100, US500, WTI and Brent, on the retail margin table of Pepperstone Markets Limited, the Bahamas-licensed company that accounts from Singapore are opened with. You trade it on TradingView, MT5, cTrader or the Pepperstone app; it is not offered on MT4. You need no crypto wallet, and the position has no expiry date.

What a round-the-clock gold position costs

Two charges matter: commission and funding. Pepperstone's Australian costs page shows 0.03% per side on GOLD PERP with no minimum; the Bahamas site may differ, so check it in your platform before trading size.

  • $10,000 of GOLD-PERP: $3 to open and $3 to close at 0.03%.
  • $50,000: $15 each way, $30 for the round trip.
  • Funding: a rate Pepperstone fixes once a week in advance and applies every day at 5 pm New York (5 or 6 am in Singapore), so you know next week's holding cost before you commit.
  • Margin: the Bahamas entity allows retail clients up to 1:200 on gold; perpetuals follow the tiers in its retail margin table.

Perpetual or spot gold?

Both are CFDs on the gold price; they differ in when you can trade and how you pay to hold.

Before you hold gold over a weekend

  • Size for the unexpected: Pepperstone does not offer guaranteed stops on the sites we checked, so a stop can fill worse than its level.
  • Plan your cash: support is listed as 24/7 on the contact page, but bank withdrawals are counted in business days.
  • Know your counterparty: Pepperstone Markets Limited (SCB, SIA-F217), no MAS licence and no named compensation scheme; retail clients are not liable for a negative balance.
  • Compare elsewhere: XS accepts Singapore residents and lists XAU/USD, but our data shows no 24/7 gold contract there; we have not verified weekend gold at MAS-licensed firms such as IG, CMC Markets or Saxo.

Is GOLD-PERP the same as owning gold?

No. It is a CFD on the gold price; you never hold metal, a certificate or a token.

Can I trade gold 24/7 on MT4?

Not with Pepperstone's perpetual. GOLD-PERP runs on TradingView, MT5, cTrader and the Pepperstone app.

Do perpetual CFDs expire?

No. Pepperstone's perpetuals have no expiry; a funding rate is applied daily for as long as the position stays open.

CFDs, including perpetual CFDs, are complex leveraged products with a high risk of losing money quickly. Positions kept open over weekends remain exposed to price moves. This page is not investment advice; check each broker's current terms before trading.
