Which brokers are most reliable for execution speed and platform stability?

Updated: 2026-10-21How we test

Verdict

  • Pepperstone is our pick for reliable execution: it publishes execution from 50 milliseconds, a 99.32% fill rate and no dealer intervention, measured on trades from 1 January to 31 March 2026.
  • These are Pepperstone's own statistics; no independent body publishes comparable execution data for Australian brokers, and we haven't tested speed ourselves.
  • Stability is partly about fallback: Pepperstone runs one account across its web/app, MT5, cTrader, MT4 and TradingView, so if one platform has a problem you can manage positions on another.
  • Ask any broker for its fill rate, the period it covers and its slippage policy before trusting a speed claim.

Reliability is hard to compare honestly because almost all the data comes from brokers themselves. Pepperstone is one of the few to publish a dated execution statistic, and its multi-platform setup gives a practical backup if one piece of software fails. Here is what it says and how to check any broker's claims.

What Pepperstone publishes

Pepperstone states: "From 50 milliseconds, with a 99.32% fill rate and no dealer intervention", with fills based on trades between 1 January and 31 March 2026. The figure is a minimum ("from"), not an average, and covers Pepperstone's whole client flow. For Australians the account is with Pepperstone Group Limited (ASIC, AFSL 414530), and retail clients get negative balance protection if a fast market leaves the account below zero.

Platform redundancy: a practical stability test

If your only platform freezes during news, you can't close your trades. Pepperstone's Razor account runs on five platforms at once, Standard on three:

  • Set up at least two before you need them, including the phone app.
  • Pepperstone's support runs 24 hours on weekdays (18 hours at weekends on most of its pages) by phone, email, WhatsApp and live chat. Australian toll-free: 1300 033 375.

How to judge any broker's reliability claim

  1. Is it an average or a "from" figure? Minimums flatter.
  2. What period and which clients does it cover?
  3. What is the fill rate, and what happens to the orders that are not filled?
  4. Does the broker intervene in execution (a dealing desk), or say it doesn't?
  5. Can you reach support during the hours you trade?

Other ASIC-licensed brokers

Capital.com (AFSL 513393) is our second choice in Australia and offers its own platform plus MT4, MT5 and TradingView, so it also gives you more than one route to your account. IC Markets (AFSL 335692) and FP Markets (AFSL 286354) list MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView. None of their execution statistics is in our verified data, so ask each one the questions above.

Has anyone independently tested Pepperstone's execution speed?

Not in the data we use. The 50 ms and 99.32% figures are Pepperstone's own, for trades from 1 January to 31 March 2026.

Does Pepperstone use a dealing desk?

Pepperstone states "no dealer intervention" in its execution claim.

What if a platform goes down while I have open trades?

At Pepperstone you can log in to another platform on the same account, such as the mobile app or cTrader, to manage the positions.

Fast execution does not protect you from losses: CFDs are leveraged and prices can gap. Execution statistics are broker-stated. General information only, not financial advice.
