A prediction-market account vs a leveraged trading account: what changes when you use PolySouq

Updated: 2026-09-05How we test
A prediction-market account vs a leveraged broker account: no leverage, loss capped at your stake, one 10% commission on the losing pot, USDC funding from $5

Verdict

  • A PolySouq account has no leverage: every position is funded in full, so the most you can lose on any answer is the amount you staked on it. There are no margin calls and no stop-outs.
  • There is no spread, no deposit fee and no monthly fee. The only cost is a 10% commission, taken from the losing side's money when an event resolves, and only when there is a losing side.
  • Positions are buy-only and held to settlement: you buy YES or NO at a probability price between 0 and 100 and wait for the outcome. There is no early cash-out.
  • Funding is USDC on the Polygon network only, with a $5 minimum deposit and a $5 minimum withdrawal. Cards and bank transfers are not offered.
  • The catalogue is Arabic-first and regional: Saudi and UAE market events, Gulf real estate, politics, seven football leagues including the Saudi Pro League, plus gold, oil, EURUSD, USDJPY and 5-minute Bitcoin and Ethereum windows.

Most readers of this site compare brokers: spreads, leverage caps, withdrawal speed, licences. A prediction-market account is a different instrument built on different rules, and the differences are structural rather than cosmetic. This guide sets PolySouq, the first Arabic prediction platform, against a typical leveraged trading account, line by line. PolySouq is operated by the same group that publishes this site; every link below is tracked, and none is an affiliate link.

What a prediction market is, and what it is not

A prediction market lists a question about a future event, such as whether a company will announce an IPO by a date, which club will win a league, or whether gold will close a window higher than it opened, and lets you buy YES or NO on each answer. The price of an answer is shown as a probability from 0 to 100 and moves as money arrives on each side. You are not buying the underlying asset and you are not borrowing anything from anyone: you are putting a fixed amount of money behind an answer, and the event itself decides the result. PolySouq frames this as testing your knowledge, and the product is built around that frame: an accuracy leaderboard, friend challenges and a community feed sit alongside the markets.

  • A price of 65 on YES means the market currently implies roughly a 65% chance of that outcome.
  • Most PolySouq events have three or more answers, for example the five clubs most likely to win a league; binary YES/NO markets are used for Up/Down price windows and football 1X2 results.
  • Every market has a published resolution rule and a close date, after which no new positions are accepted.
  • event tradingis what PolySouq calls the format on its homepage, where the live events are listed by category with their current probabilities.

The two accounts side by side

Read the table as a description of two different tools rather than a ranking: a leveraged account lets you trade price movement with borrowed exposure, while a prediction-market account prices the probability of a named event with money you already hold.

How the parimutuel payout works, with the numbers

PolySouq does not match you against a market maker. Each event runs as a pool: all the money staked on every answer is collected, and when the event resolves, everyone who backed a correct answer splits the money that was staked on incorrect answers, in proportion to their stake. A 10% commission is taken from the losing side's money before it is shared; the winners' own stakes are returned untouched. If nobody backed a losing answer, because you were the only participant or because everyone chose the same answer, there is no losing pot to share, and every stake is refunded in full. Voided or cancelled markets are also refunded in full.

  • Your return depends on how much money is on the other side, not on a fixed quoted price: the displayed probability is an estimate of the final split, not a guaranteed multiple.
  • There is no partial loss. Each position either shares the losing pot, is refunded, or is lost in full.
  • Because nothing is borrowed, there is no financing charge and no possibility of owing the platform money.
Worked example: a binary market with $700 on YES and $300 on NO, resolving YES
StepAmountNote
Total staked on YES$700Includes your $100 stake.
Total staked on NO$300This is the losing pot once the event resolves YES.
Commission$3010% of the losing pot only. Nothing is taken from the winners' stakes.
Shared among YES holders$270$300 minus $30.
Your share$38.57Your $100 is one seventh of the $700 YES pot, so you receive one seventh of $270.
Returned to your wallet$138.57Your original $100 plus $38.57.
If the event had resolved NO$0You would lose the full $100 stake; NO holders would share $630 after the $70 commission.
If nobody had staked on NO$100No losing pot, so every stake is refunded in full.

What you can trade on PolySouq

The catalogue is deliberately regional. Alongside global politics and crypto it carries the events that a Gulf reader actually follows: Tadawul listings and Aramco decisions, DFM and ADX events, Dubai real estate, OPEC meetings and rate decisions. Financial-market traders will recognise the Up/Down windows, which ask a single question about a price at the end of a fixed window and resolve automatically from public price data.

Opening an account: the six steps

Account opening is shorter than a broker onboarding because there is no leverage suitability questionnaire and no card processing. Email verification is required before you can trade or comment, and the funding step assumes you hold USDC, or can buy it on an exchange that supports withdrawals to the Polygon network. Withdrawals go back out the same way, as USDC on Polygon, with a $5 minimum.

  1. Open the signup page and create the account with an email address and password, or with Google or Apple sign-in.
  2. Verify the email address. Trading and commenting are locked until this is done.
  3. Pick your interests. A personalised feed is built from them.
  4. Go to Portfolio, choose Add funds, and copy your personal Polygon USDC deposit address.
  5. Send USDC from any wallet or exchange that supports the Polygon network. The minimum deposit is $5; the balance is shown in dollars.
  6. Pick an event and buy YES or NO on the answer you expect. The position stays open until the event resolves.

Friends, the accuracy leaderboard and the refund rule

The social features have no equivalent at a broker. Every account gets a personal invite link in Settings; friends you invite can be challenged on the same events from the Play page. A weekly accuracy leaderboard ranks users by how often their answers were right rather than by how much money they made, which keeps the frame on knowledge rather than stake size. The refund rule matters here: if you are the only person on a market and nobody takes the other side, you get your money back at settlement rather than winning by default.

The Ideas feed and transparency

PolySouq runs a community feed at Ideas where users post analysis, reply, mention each other, bookmark posts and keep a public profile; every event also has its own comment thread, and a verified email is required to post. On transparency, every resolved market shows its outcome and the source it was resolved from, the leaderboard is public, and resolution is automated by consensus of public sources with uncertain cases routed to a human review queue. A broker's per-trade execution record is rarely disclosed at that level.

Culture, values and the company behind the platform

PolySouq describes itself as the Arabic Polymarket, built for events in the Gulf and the wider Arab world. It states that it respects Arab culture and values, lists no events that contradict them, and keeps the framing on knowledge throughout: the product is presented as testing what you know against your friends and the crowd. The interface is Arabic-first with an English version, uses Saudi time and Gregorian dates, and a mobile app exists alongside the website. The platform is operated by a Cyprus-registered company, and its terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, whose courts have exclusive jurisdiction. It does not hold a broker licence and does not claim one; it is not a broker.

We built PolySouq for people who already follow the Saudi market, the Premier League and the price of gold every day, and want to put a number on what they think will happen, in Arabic, on events that matter to them. Nobody is borrowing money, nobody gets a margin call, and every resolved market shows exactly why it resolved the way it did.

Prediction markets in the United States, and the gap in the Arab world

The format has grown quickly elsewhere. Pew Research Center reported in May 2026 that combined monthly global trading volume on Kalshi and Polymarket rose from under $5 billion in September 2025 to about $24 billion in April 2026, with sports the largest category on both platforms and politics and crypto next. CoinDesk reported in April 2026 that Kalshi controls about 89% of the US regulated prediction market. Both platforms are English-only and centred on US and European events. Until PolySouq there was no Arabic-language platform focused on Gulf and Arab-world events, which is the gap it is built to fill, and the reason its catalogue leads with Tadawul, DFM and the Saudi Pro League rather than the NFL.

  • prediction market websitesare compared in PolySouq's research hub, which also explains how its own markets are priced and resolved.

Is PolySouq a betting site?

No, and the distinction is structural rather than a matter of wording. A sportsbook or bookmaker sets the odds itself, takes the other side of your position, and profits when you lose; the price you see is the house's price. On PolySouq the platform never takes a side: prices are set by the money other users have placed, the platform's only revenue is a fixed 10% commission on the losing pot, and if there is no losing pot the platform earns nothing and refunds everyone. Markets are also not limited to sport: company decisions, index moves, real estate, elections and economics sit next to football. Where a betting site sells you a fixed price against the house, a prediction market lets you price an event against other people, publicly, with the outcome and its source published afterwards.

  • The house never holds a position, so it has no interest in which answer wins.
  • Prices are crowd-set probabilities, not bookmaker odds with a built-in margin.
  • The commission is fixed, disclosed and charged only when someone was wrong.

Who a prediction-market account suits, and who it does not

The format suits a reader who follows specific events closely, can commit a fixed amount and wait for a result, and wants a hard ceiling on loss with no margin call. It does not suit anyone who needs the option to change their mind before the result is known, trades intraday price movement with leverage, or wants fiat funding by card or bank. The counterweight to the capped-loss point is that the cap is the whole stake: a wrong answer loses 100% of what was placed on it, and nothing about the format makes an answer more likely to be right. It is a different instrument with its own risk profile, not a safer version of a trading account.

Create a PolySouq account

Minimum deposit $5 in USDC on the Polygon network. You can lose the full amount you stake on any answer.

Does PolySouq offer leverage or margin trading?

No. Every position is funded in full from your balance, so there is no borrowed exposure, no margin requirement, no margin call and no stop-out. The most you can lose on any answer is exactly the amount you staked on it, and you can never owe the platform money.

What does it cost to trade on PolySouq?

There is no spread, no deposit fee and no monthly fee. The only charge is a 10% commission taken from the losing side's money when an event resolves. If nobody backed a losing answer, no commission is taken and every stake is refunded in full to the wallet.

Can I cash out before the event resolves?

No. PolySouq is buy-only: once you buy YES or NO on an answer, the position is held until the event resolves and the pool is settled. This is the largest practical difference from a broker account, where positions can be opened and closed at any time during market hours.

How do I fund a PolySouq account?

By sending USDC on the Polygon network to the personal deposit address shown under Portfolio, then Add funds. The minimum deposit is $5 and the minimum withdrawal is $5, also in USDC on Polygon. Cards, bank transfers and other fiat methods are not offered, and the balance is displayed in dollars.

How are PolySouq markets resolved?

Resolution is automated by consensus of public sources, and cases the system cannot settle with confidence are sent to a human review queue. Every resolved market displays its outcome and the source used, so a user can check the reasoning behind any settlement after the fact rather than taking it on trust.

What happens if I am the only person on a market?

You get your money back. The parimutuel payout is funded by the losing pot, so when nobody backed a losing answer, whether because you were alone on the market or because everyone chose the same answer, there is nothing to share and every stake is refunded in full at settlement.

Is PolySouq regulated as a broker?

No. PolySouq is not a broker and does not claim a broker licence. It is operated by a Cyprus-registered company, its terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, and it runs prediction markets in which users price events against each other rather than trading leveraged products against a dealer.

Can I use PolySouq in English?

Yes. The platform is Arabic-first and right-to-left, but a full English version is served under the /en path, covering the same events, the same wallet and the same leaderboard. Times are shown in Saudi time with Gregorian dates in both languages, and a mobile app exists alongside the website.

Prediction markets involve risk: you can lose the full amount you stake on any answer, and nothing on this page is a promise of profit or a recommendation to trade.
