Pepperstone or Phillip Nova, which has the better trading app?
Verdict
- For a CFD and forex trader, Pepperstone is our pick: its own app is one of five platforms on the Razor account (with MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView), and the same login reaches EUR/USD at a 0.1-pip published average plus commission.
- Phillip Nova 2.0, from MAS-regulated Phillip Securities, uses TradingView charts; Phillip quotes Nova FX spreads from as low as 0.8 pips with no commission.
- Phillip's Singapore company is regulated by MAS. Pepperstone holds no MAS licence; Singapore clients contract with Pepperstone Markets Limited in the Bahamas.
- We have not run hands-on app tests, so this comparison uses what each firm publishes about its apps and prices.
An app is only as good as the account behind it. We compared what each firm says its app connects to, what a trade costs inside it, and who regulates the company holding your money.
Why we lean to Pepperstone's app set-up
Pepperstone's own web platform and app work on both of its accounts, and if you outgrow it you can move to MT4, MT5, cTrader or TradingView without changing broker. The app also carries newer products: Pepperstone lists its perpetual CFDs on its own app alongside TradingView, MT5 and cTrader. A separate CopyTrading by Pepperstone app exists on the international site that Singapore visitors land on.

| Headline FX pricing | Razor EUR/USD 0.1 pips avg + $3.50/side; Standard 1.1 pips avg | From as low as 0.8 pips, no commission (a minimum) |

Cost per trade inside the app
Say you trade one standard EUR/USD lot from your phone. On Pepperstone's Standard account the 1.1-pip average works out to $11 with no commission; on Razor through the Pepperstone platform it is about $1 of spread plus $7 commission, so $8. Phillip Nova's 0.8 pips is a "from" figure, so $8 is the lowest it can be, and the typical cost depends on the live spread. Within Phillip's own range, POEMS quotes FX CFDs from as low as 0.3 pips and Phillip MT5 from 0.6, so Nova is not Phillip's cheapest FX route.
Choose Phillip Nova if
- You want a broker regulated by MAS in Singapore.
- You already hold POEMS accounts for shares and want everything with one Singapore firm.
- You prefer TradingView charts built into a local broker's app.
