Pepperstone or IG on execution speed, which is better?

Updated: 2026-10-21How we test

Verdict

  • Pepperstone is our pick on execution speed: it publishes fills from 50 milliseconds, a 99.32% fill rate and no dealer intervention, measured on its trades from 1 January to 31 March 2026.
  • IG publishes no speed or fill-rate statistic in the material we verified, so there is no like-for-like number to put against Pepperstone's.
  • For Singapore residents the bigger difference is the licence: IG serves Singapore through IG Asia Pte Ltd under a MAS capital markets services licence, while Pepperstone holds no MAS licence and serves you from the Bahamas.
  • Neither speed figure removes slippage risk; Pepperstone does not publish a guaranteed stop-loss on any site we checked.

Speed claims are only useful when a broker states the number, the period and the method. Pepperstone does all three; IG, in the pages we checked, does not. Here is what the published figures support, and where IG still wins for a trader in Singapore.

Pepperstone has the only published execution figure

Pepperstone states execution "from 50 milliseconds, with a 99.32% fill rate and no dealer intervention", based on fills between 1 January and 31 March 2026. "From" means 50 ms is the fastest case, not the typical one, and the fill rate tells you how many orders were filled rather than how close to your price. Even so, a dated, published statistic is more than we found from IG. Singapore residents open with Pepperstone Markets Limited, licensed by the Securities Commission of The Bahamas (SIA-F217).

Why speed matters less than the price you are filled at

A fast fill at a wide spread can cost more than a slower fill at a tight one. On Pepperstone's Razor account a 1-lot EUR/USD round turn at the 0.1-pip average costs about $1 of spread plus $6 commission on cTrader or $7 on MT5, so $7 to $8. IG's 0.6-point EUR/USD figure is a floor, not an average, so the best case is about $6 a lot with no commission; your real cost depends on the live spread when you trade. For a scalper placing dozens of orders a day, the average spread and the fill quality matter together.

Where IG is the stronger choice

  • You want a broker supervised by MAS in Singapore. IG has that licence; Pepperstone does not.
  • You need guaranteed stops. IG's UK site offers them; Pepperstone does not publish one.
  • You trade through ProRealTime or L2 Dealer, which Pepperstone does not list.

Test execution yourself before you size up

  1. Open a small live account; Pepperstone's minimum is $10.
  2. Place market orders during a quiet hour and during a scheduled data release, and record the price you saw against the price you got.
  3. Repeat on the platform you plan to use, since cTrader, MT5 and TradingView route through different front ends.
  4. Compare the average gap, not the single best fill.

Sources

Figures as published by each broker.

Is Pepperstone faster than IG?

Pepperstone publishes execution from 50 ms; IG publishes no comparable figure in the material we checked, so a direct speed ranking is not possible from published data.

Is Pepperstone licensed by MAS?

No. Singapore residents are served by Pepperstone Markets Limited, licensed in the Bahamas (SIA-F217). IG Asia Pte Ltd holds a MAS licence.

Does a fast fill stop slippage?

No. Stops trigger a market order that can fill at a worse price in a gap. Pepperstone does not publish a guaranteed stop; IG's UK site does offer one.
