Updated: 2026-10-21How we test

Verdict

  • For forex and CFD trading, yes: Pepperstone publishes lower spreads (Razor GBP/USD averages 0.2 pips plus commission; eToro quotes GBP/USD from 2 pips) and supports MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView.
  • eToro's EUR/USD starts from 1 pip, roughly level with Pepperstone's commission-free Standard account (1.0 minimum, 1.1 average); Pepperstone's Razor is far tighter.
  • eToro runs on its own web platform and app only; Pepperstone adds third-party platforms and automation.
  • Both are FCA-authorised in the UK (Pepperstone Limited 684312; eToro (UK) Ltd 583263) and both start from about £10/$10.

eToro is built around its own social investing app; Pepperstone is built for forex and CFD trading. If your question is purely about trading FX and CFDs, the published spreads and platform choice favour Pepperstone.

Why Pepperstone is the stronger forex and CFD broker

On the pairs most UK traders use, Pepperstone's published prices are tighter: Razor averages 0.1 pips on EUR/USD and 0.2 on GBP/USD, plus commission from £2.25 per lot per side on a GBP account. If you prefer no commission, Standard averages 1.1 and 1.2 pips. You also get MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView, and a spread betting account, which eToro does not list among its products in our data.

Getting money in and out

  • Pepperstone UK: card, Apple Pay and Google Pay withdrawals same day to one working day; bank transfers same day to three working days.
  • eToro: an email confirming withdrawal status within two business days; cards and bank transfers can take up to ten business days, e-wallets up to two, and eToro Money is instant.
  • Minimum deposit: £10 by card at Pepperstone; $10 at eToro.

When eToro might still suit you

eToro's own app is the whole experience, which some newer traders prefer to MetaTrader's learning curve. If you specifically want copy trading, note that Pepperstone's copy-trading products are published on its international site only; its UK copy-trading pages return an error, so don't count on them as a UK client. Check eToro's UK terms directly for its own copy-trading conditions.
