Which CFD broker offers the most instruments in Australia?
Verdict
- We can verify only one broker's range in detail: Pepperstone, our pick, says it offers more than 1,350 CFDs in Australia, and its account table lists 93 FX pairs, 26 indices, 1,162 shares, 40 commodities, 95 ETFs and 31 cryptocurrencies.
- On top of that, its Australian costs page lists 17 perpetual CFDs, and more than 100 US share CFDs trade 24/5.
- Instrument counts for the other ASIC-licensed brokers are not in our verified data, so we do not crown a winner by number.
- A bigger number matters less than whether your markets are there and what they cost.
Every broker's headline count is built differently, so a 'most instruments' ranking says more about marketing than about range. Here is what Pepperstone's Australian range contains, and how to compare others fairly.
Pepperstone's published range in Australia
Pepperstone's own figures do not quite agree with each other, so we quote both: its markets page says 'more than 1350 CFDs', and the account table below, built from data dated 12 March 2025, gives the breakdown. Australian clients trade them through Pepperstone Group Limited (AFSL 414530).

Why we won't name a 'most instruments' winner
Our fact files hold verified counts for Pepperstone only. Broker totals also count differently: some add every crypto cross, every index forward and every share listed on two exchanges as separate instruments; others count only what retail clients can trade. Until we can check each broker's list on the same basis, any ranking would be guesswork. That includes Capital.com, our second choice, whose range we have not verified.
What the headline count leaves out
- 24-hour US shares: more than 100 US share CFDs also trade 24/5 under a '-24' suffix.
- Index forwards alongside cash indices, for example AUS200-F, US500-F and NAS100-F.
- Perpetual CFDs on indices, gold, oil and 12 single stocks, trading 24/7.
- Currency-index CFDs, which have their own line in Pepperstone's leverage table.
Breadth where Australians usually trade
- About 200 ASX share CFDs at 0.07% commission per side.
- More than 600 US shares on NYSE and NASDAQ at $0.02 per share per side.
- 46 Hong Kong share CFDs at 0.20% per side.
- AUS200 with a 1-point minimum spread and no commission.
How to compare ranges fairly
- List the 10 to 20 markets you actually trade.
- Check each broker's symbol list for every one of them, not its headline total.
- Compare the cost and the retail leverage on those markets only.
- Check trading hours: 24/5 or 24/7 versions can matter more than another 500 symbols.

CFDs are complex, leveraged products and carry a high risk of losing money quickly. Make sure you understand how they work and can afford to lose what you put in. This page is general information, not investment advice; check each broker's current terms, PDS and TMD before you open an account.
