What fees apply when trading crypto CFDs?

Updated: 2026-10-21How we test

Verdict

  • At Pepperstone, our pick for crypto CFDs from Singapore, you pay two trading costs: the spread (BTC/USD averages 15.15 on Razor) and overnight financing on positions held past rollover; its Australian pricing page lists no commission on crypto CFDs.
  • Account fees are light: deposits are free, withdrawals are free except a $20 charge on international bank wires, and there is no inactivity fee.
  • Pepperstone's crypto financing rates are not in the pages we verified, so check the swap in the symbol specification before you hold overnight.
  • Singapore residents are served by Pepperstone Markets Limited (SCB, Bahamas), which has no MAS licence.

Crypto CFD fees fall into two groups: what you pay to trade (spread, any commission, financing) and what you pay to run the account (deposits, withdrawals, inactivity, currency conversion). Here is each line at Pepperstone, a worked example, and the questions to put to any other broker.

Pepperstone's crypto fee list is short

Pepperstone is our pick partly because there is little to add up. The trading cost is the spread, published on its Australian page as a BTC/USD average of 15.15 on Razor and 20.15 on Standard, and 2.01 and 2.51 on ETH/USD, with no commission on crypto CFDs. Running the account costs little: card, e-wallet and crypto deposits are free, and the only withdrawal charge in its published table is $20 on international bank wires. You can hold the account in SGD and open it from $10.

Worked example: 0.5 BTC held for three nights

On Razor at the published average, opening and closing 0.5 BTC costs 0.5 × 15.15 = $7.58 in spread, with no commission. Keep it open for three nights and add three days of financing at whatever rate the symbol specification shows. If you deposited by international bank wire and withdraw the same way, add $20 on the way out; a card or e-wallet withdrawal adds nothing. The spread is a one-off; financing keeps running for as long as you hold.

How other brokers compare on crypto fees

We found no crypto spread or financing figures for XS in our data; it accepts Singapore residents, and its swap-free terms put crypto pairs back on standard swaps after three days. Plus500, whose Singapore company holds a MAS licence (CMS100648), lists an inactivity fee of up to USD 10 a month after three months without a login on its UAE fees page, so check its Singapore terms for the equivalent. Capital.com does not accept Singapore residents.

The cost you do not see on a fee table

Choosing an offshore entity has its own price. Pepperstone has no MAS licence, and its Bahamas company (SIA-F217) names no investor compensation scheme. Retail clients are not liable for a negative balance under its terms, and client money is held in segregated accounts, according to Pepperstone. Weigh that against the low fees before you deposit.

Does Pepperstone charge commission on Bitcoin CFDs?

Its Australian pricing page lists none; the cost is built into the spread.

Is there an inactivity fee at Pepperstone?

No. Accounts holding under 10 units of currency and unused for three months or more may be archived, but no fee is charged.

Are crypto deposits free?

Yes, according to Pepperstone's international funding table, with an $18 minimum.

Crypto CFDs are complex and leveraged, and fees are only part of the cost: price moves can lose you money rapidly. Pepperstone's international site states that 80% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. Not investment advice.
