What are the fees on crypto CFDs in Australia?

Updated: 2026-10-21How we test

Verdict

  • At Pepperstone, our pick in Australia, crypto CFDs carry two costs: the spread and overnight financing. There is no commission on crypto, even on the Razor account.
  • Pepperstone's published average spreads: BTCUSD 15.15 (Razor) and 20.15 (Standard); ETHUSD 2.01 (Razor) and 2.51 (Standard).
  • Deposits and withdrawals are free by every method Pepperstone lists in Australia, and it charges no inactivity or account-keeping fee.
  • Financing is the cost to watch on longer holds; Pepperstone shows the rate per symbol in the platform rather than in a published table.

Crypto CFD fees in Australia come in three layers: what you pay to open and close (spread and any commission), what you pay to hold (overnight financing), and account charges. Pepperstone's figures are a clean benchmark because it publishes its spreads and charges no commission on crypto.

Pepperstone's crypto CFD fees

Pepperstone Group Limited (ASIC, AFSL 414530) publishes a minimum and an average spread for its main crypto CFDs on both account types. Razor is the cheaper account for crypto, because the usual Razor commission doesn't apply to crypto CFDs.

Worked cost examples

Using the published averages, the spread cost of a round trip (open and close) is the spread multiplied by the number of coins:

  • 0.5 BTC: about $7.58 on Razor, $10.08 on Standard.
  • 2 BTC: about $30.30 on Razor, $40.30 on Standard.
  • 10 ETH: about $20.10 on Razor, $25.10 on Standard.
  • Add financing for each night the position stays open; a trade opened and closed the same day avoids it.

Overnight financing

Holding a leveraged crypto CFD past the daily rollover triggers a financing adjustment. Pepperstone doesn't publish its crypto financing rates in a table we could verify, so look up the long and short swap in the symbol details of MT5, cTrader or the Pepperstone platform before you hold. Because crypto trades at weekends, ask whether financing applies to every calendar night. Pepperstone's swap-free account isn't available to Australian residents; Australia is not on its 23-country list.

Account and payment fees

  • Deposits: free by crypto (from $18), card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Neteller, Skrill, PayID and BPAY (from $10), or domestic bank transfer (no minimum).
  • Withdrawals: free; crypto, PayPal, Neteller and Skrill take up to 1 business day, cards and PayID up to 2, bank transfer up to 7.
  • No inactivity fee. Accounts under 10 currency units and unused for three months or more may be archived.
  • BTC and ETH can be traded in AUD; other coins are priced in US dollars.

How to compare another provider

Capital.com (ASIC, AFSL 513393) is our second choice in Australia, but its crypto spreads and fees aren't in our verified data, so get them from its platform. Compare average spreads, not minimums, and ask whether commission or a currency-conversion charge applies.
