Which brokers reduce commission for high volume traders?
Verdict
- None of the UK brokers in our data, Pepperstone included, publishes a volume-tiered commission schedule for retail clients; Pepperstone is still our pick for high-volume traders because its flat rates are already low: $3.00 per side on cTrader and $3.50 on MT5, or from £2.25 in a GBP account.
- The biggest saving most active traders can make is structural, not a discount: moving from Standard to Razor on cTrader cuts the published EUR/USD round-trip cost from $11 to $7.
- Professional status at Pepperstone changes leverage and access to a free VPS, not the published commission rate.
- If any broker offers you a negotiated rate, get it in writing and set it against the published figures below.
Volume discounts are normal on institutional desks and rare on public retail price lists. Here is what UK brokers actually publish, how a heavy trader can cut costs at Pepperstone without a discount, and what to ask before accepting a 'special rate'.
What we found: flat rates, no public volume tiers
The pricing pages in our data show flat per-lot or percentage commissions; none publishes a schedule that falls as your volume rises. That includes Pepperstone, whose Razor commission is a flat $3.50 per lot per side on MT5, TradingView and its own platform, $3.00 on cTrader, and from £2.25 in a GBP account. We still pick Pepperstone for heavy traders because that base rate sits at the low end of what we track, and it comes with FCA authorisation and FSCS cover up to £85,000 for eligible clients.

Flat commission rates at UK-regulated brokers
A flat rate means your cost per lot is the same at 10 lots a month or 1,000; the lever is the rate itself, not the volume. Capital.com, our second choice in the UK, shows live spreads and no commission schedule in our data, so a high-volume trader would have to measure its costs directly.
| Broker | Commission | How it scales |
|---|---|---|
| Pepperstone, cTrader | $3.00 per side | Flat per lot |
| Pepperstone, MT5 / TradingView | $3.50 per side (from £2.25 in GBP) | Flat per lot |
| Tickmill, Raw | $3 per side | Flat per lot |
| Vantage, Raw ECN | $3.00 per side | Flat per lot |
| CMC Markets, FX Active | 0.0025% per transaction | Rises with trade value |
Cutting cost per lot at Pepperstone without a discount
At 200 round-trip lots of EUR/USD a month, using Pepperstone's published averages and $10 a pip, the account and platform you choose do the work a volume discount would:
- Standard (1.1 pips, no commission): 200 × $11 = $2,200.
- Razor on MT5 or TradingView (0.1 pips + $7): 200 × $8 = $1,600.
- Razor on cTrader (0.1 pips + $6): 200 × $7 = $1,400.
- Moving from Standard to cTrader saves $800 a month, the equivalent of a 36% discount on the Standard cost.
What Pro status does and does not change
- Leverage rises to up to 1:500 on FX, gold and major indices.
- A free VPS is available to eligible and Pro clients.
- Negative balance protection no longer applies.
- The commission rate stays the same in the Pepperstone material we checked.
- To qualify you need two of three: 10 significantly sized trades a quarter over the last year, a portfolio above €500,000, or a year in a finance role that requires knowledge of derivatives.
Questions to ask before accepting a special rate
- Is it per side or per round trip, and in which account currency?
- Does it apply on every platform, or only one?
- Is the spread the same raw feed as the published account, or wider?
- Is it tied to a minimum monthly volume, and what happens if you miss it?

Does Pepperstone run an active-trader rebate scheme?
Pepperstone's UK pages in our data do not describe a volume rebate or tiered commission. If you trade large volumes, ask its support team directly and compare any offer with the published rates.
Is a percentage commission better than a per-lot fee for big traders?
It depends on the pair. CMC's 0.0025% works out at 2.5 units of trade value per 100,000, each way; Pepperstone's cTrader rate is $3.00 per 100,000-unit lot per side. Convert both into your account currency before comparing.
Which Pepperstone platform is cheapest for volume?
cTrader, at $3.00 per lot per side on FX against $3.50 on MT5, TradingView and Pepperstone's own platform. On gold, cTrader charges $3.50 per side.
