Which brokers offer the most index CFDs?
Verdict
- Pepperstone, our pick for index traders in Australia, counts 26 index CFDs on its account tables (data from March 2025), covering the major US, European and Asia-Pacific benchmarks, plus forwards on eight of them.
- We could not verify comparable index counts from other brokers, so we will not rank anyone as offering 'the most'.
- Count matters less than coverage of the indices you trade and their published costs: Pepperstone publishes spreads for each, with no commission.
- Pepperstone also lists currency-index CFDs and perpetual CFDs on NAS100 and US500, the latter with retail eligibility in Australia not stated.
A long list of indices looks impressive on a broker's homepage, but most traders use three or four. The useful question is whether a broker covers the ones you need, at a cost it is willing to publish. Here is what Pepperstone offers, and how to judge any broker's index range.
Pepperstone's index range
Pepperstone's Australian accounts table lists 26 index CFDs, based on data sourced on 12 March 2025, and its markets page describes 'more than 20 major stock indices'. Its index fee page names the main ones with published spreads: AUS200, HK50, GER40, UK100, US500, NAS100, US30, JPN225, CN50, FRA40 and EUSTX50. Forwards are available on AUS200, GER40, HK50, UK100, US500, NAS100, US30 and JPN225, and there are currency-index CFDs, which retail clients can trade at up to 1:5. All of this sits under Pepperstone Group Limited, AFSL 414530, with no commission on index CFDs.

Better tests than a headline count
- List the indices you actually trade and confirm each is available as a cash CFD.
- Check whether the broker publishes an average spread for each, not only a 'from' figure.
- Look for forwards on the indices you hold for weeks, to avoid paying financing every night.
- Confirm the retail leverage tier: Pepperstone caps major indices at 1:20 and minor ones at 1:10 for Australian retail clients.
- Check the platforms: Pepperstone's indices run on its app, MT5 and cTrader, plus MT4 and TradingView on Razor.
Other brokers worth checking
Capital.com (AFSL 513393), our second choice, offers index CFDs with guaranteed stop-losses; CMC Markets (AFSL 238054) and IG (AFSL 515106) are other large ASIC-licensed providers. We have not verified the number of index CFDs any of them offers, so compare their current lists against the indices you need rather than relying on a count.

CFDs on an index that tracks one currency against a basket of others. At Pepperstone, Australian retail clients can trade them at up to 1:5 leverage.
A wide choice of index CFDs does not reduce their risk: they are leveraged and can lose money rapidly. Product lists and spreads change, so check the broker's current pages. Not investment advice.
