Which trading platform is best for beginners in Singapore?
Verdict
- For beginners in Singapore our pick is Pepperstone's own web platform and app on a Standard account: the simplest screens to learn on, $10 to start, and MT5, MT4 and cTrader available later on the same account without moving broker.
- TradingView needs a Razor account at Pepperstone, so it is a second step rather than a first one.
- Pepperstone has no MAS licence; Singapore residents are served by its Bahamas entity (SCB, SIA-F217). Beginners who want a MAS-regulated platform can look at CMC Markets' Next Generation, IG's web platform or SaxoInvestor.
- Copy trading is on offer through Pepperstone's international site, but copying someone else's trades does not remove the risk of losing money.
A beginner's platform should make three things obvious: how big the position is, what it costs, and how much you can lose. Pepperstone's in-house platform does that with the fewest buttons, and the same login opens the professional platforms when you are ready. Here is the order we'd learn them in.
Start on Pepperstone's own platform, then graduate
Pepperstone's web platform and app run on the Standard account, where forex carries no commission, so the price on the ticket is the full dealing cost (EUR/USD averages 1.1 pips). You can fund from $10, choose SGD as the base currency, and practise with micro positions while learning how margin and stop-losses behave. When you want indicators, automation or deeper charting, MT5, MT4 and cTrader are already attached to the same Standard account; a switch to Razor adds TradingView. Many traders move on from their first platform, which is why we weigh the upgrade path as heavily as the first screen.

Pepperstone's five platforms, in the order a beginner should try them
- Pepperstone web and app: plain order tickets and the account view; learn position size, margin and stops here.
- MT5: the industry workhorse, with more indicators and the Smart Trader Tools add-ons; also carries Pepperstone's perpetual CFDs.
- cTrader: cleaner charts and depth of market, and the lowest Razor forex commission at $3.00 per side.
- TradingView: the best-known charting site; at Pepperstone it needs a Razor account.
- MT4: only if a course, signal service or expert advisor you rely on is built for it.
Which account carries which platform
| Platform | Standard | Razor |
|---|---|---|
| Pepperstone web and app | Yes | Yes |
| MT4 | Yes | Yes |
| MT5 | Yes | Yes |
| cTrader | Yes | Yes |
| TradingView | No | Yes |
Copy trading is not a shortcut
Pepperstone's international site offers CopyTrading by Pepperstone, which it says lists 9,000+ vetted traders and works with MT4 and MT5, plus cTrader Copy and MetaTrader Signals. For a beginner the appeal is obvious and so is the risk: the trader you copy can lose, their leverage becomes yours, and a strong past record says little about next month. If you try it, copy with a small slice of the account and read each provider's drawdown, not just the return.
If you want a MAS-regulated beginner platform
Pepperstone's Bahamas licence means you are not dealing with a MAS-supervised firm. Three firms in our data pair a MAS-licensed Singapore company with an in-house platform built for newer traders: CMC Markets (Next Generation web platform and app), IG (IG Asia; web platform and app) and Saxo (SaxoInvestor alongside SaxoTrader). We hold no like-for-like cost figures for them in Singapore, so compare live prices before choosing. XS, our second offshore choice, offers only MT4, MT5 and its own app, without a simplified web platform in our data.

Is MT4 good for beginners?
It works, but it is older and busier than Pepperstone's own platform. Start simpler and add MetaTrader when you need its indicators or robots.
Can I switch platforms without opening a new Pepperstone account?
Yes. The Standard account runs on the Pepperstone platform, MT4, MT5 and cTrader; Razor adds TradingView.
Which platform is cheapest for a beginner?
On Standard all platforms price the same, through the spread. On Razor, cTrader has the lowest forex commission at $3.00 per side.
Does copy trading suit complete beginners?
Only with small amounts. You take on the copied trader's risk and leverage, and past results don't predict future ones.
New traders should know that leveraged CFDs can lose money very quickly. Pepperstone's international site states that 80% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. Not investment advice.
