Which brokers offer agricultural commodity CFDs?
Verdict
- Pepperstone offers agricultural commodity CFDs: soft commodities are a separate class in its UK Pro leverage table, within a 40-commodity range, and its other entities list agricultural or soft commodities in their retail tables too.
- Pepperstone doesn't name the individual crops on the pages we verified, so check the platform for the exact markets you want before opening an account.
- UK retail leverage on softs is 1:10 (the cap for commodities other than gold); Professional clients at Pepperstone can get up to 1:50.
- We found no agricultural market list for Capital.com, IG or CMC Markets in our fact pack, though all three sell guaranteed stops, which Pepperstone doesn't.
Agricultural CFDs, often called softs, are a smaller corner of most providers' ranges. Pepperstone clearly carries them as an asset class; what it doesn't publish on the pages we checked is the crop-by-crop list. Here's what is confirmed, what leverage applies, and what to check before you trade.
Pepperstone's soft-commodity offer
Pepperstone Limited (FCA 684312) lists 40 commodities for UK clients. Its UK Pro page sets leverage for 'soft commodities' separately from metals and energies, and Pepperstone's German and Australian retail tables list agricultural or soft commodities at 1:10. For a UK retail client, softs fall under the 1:10 cap for commodities other than gold. You can trade them as CFDs on Razor or Standard or as spread bets in pounds per point, with no commission on spread bets or on Standard CFDs outside shares. Pepperstone is our pick because one account gives you softs alongside FX, indices, metals and energies on five platforms.

Leverage on softs against other commodities
| Class | Retail | Professional |
|---|---|---|
| Gold | 1:20 | 1:500 |
| Soft (agricultural) commodities | 1:10 | 1:50 |
| Energies | 1:10 | 1:200 |
| Other metals | 1:10 | 1:50 |
How softs can differ from gold or oil
Many providers base soft-commodity prices on exchange futures rather than a cash market, and those markets trade for shorter hours than gold or major currencies. That affects you in three ways, so ask about each before you trade:
- Expiry and rollover: is the CFD tied to a futures month, and what happens to an open position when it rolls?
- Session times: when is the market open on your platform, and how wide is the spread near the open and close?
- Holding cost: is there a nightly fee (at Pepperstone, after 10 pm UK time) or is the cost built into the contract price?
A margin example
At 1:10, £3,000 of exposure to a soft commodity needs £300 of margin. A 5% move against you costs £150, half the margin, and a 10% move uses all of it. Pepperstone's negative balance protection for retail clients means you can't lose more than your account balance, but it won't keep the position open.
Other firms
Our fact pack doesn't include an agricultural market list for the other FCA-regulated firms. Capital.com (FCA 793714) publishes 10:1 retail leverage on commodities other than gold and offers guaranteed stop-loss orders. CMC Markets publishes commodity margin from 5% and refunds its guaranteed-stop fee if the stop isn't triggered. IG also sells guaranteed stops. If you want gap protection on thinly traded crops, check whether those firms list the market you want.
